Dewey Layman, President & CEO

Dewey Layman is well known for his vast experience in cybersecurity and software & systems engineering. Mr. Layman brings long-term perspective and knowledge to CipherNova having supported many agencies such as the Department of Defense (DoD), National Security Agency (NSA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in addition to supporting various commercial organizations.
Before CipherNova, Mr. Layman was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Aleta Technologies, Inc. where he led several technological advancements in cybersecurity for the company and the DoD. Prior to being the CTO for Aleta, Mr. Layman also utilized his cybersecurity and software engineering expertise at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he was awarded several times for his exceptional service in support of the Space Shuttle Program, the Identity & Access Management (IdAM) System, and the NASA Online Registration System (NORS). Mr. Layman started his technological journey in the United States Air Force (USAF) where he was an Electronic Systems Security Analyst for the Air Intelligence Agency (AIA). During this time Mr. Layman was the recipient of the "Certificate of Recognition" from the AIA for outstanding support to the intelligence community and was recognized by the NSA for support that exceeded the customer's expectations.
Mr. Layman also has a very strong academic background in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. He holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) where he was the sole recipient of the prestigious "Outstanding Master of Science in Cybersecurity Award." Mr. Layman also has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from UAH where he again was the sole recipient of the "Departmental Honors in Information Systems Award." In addition to the Cybersecurity and Information Systems degrees, Mr. Layman also has degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Hawaii Pacific University (HPU).
